Kenya is poor and rich. Kenya is loud and quiet. Kenya is cool and hot. Situated on the equator, Kenya’s sun almost stands perpendicular at noon. In the evening it cools down in the higher situated capital Nairobi and the savannah and it stays warm and humid at the coast in Mombasa. One feels that the country is changing. China “donated” a new railway line to Kenya some time ago and is building new transport routes, certainly not only for the benefit of the population.

In the large national parks it is difficult for Europeans to understand that lions, zebras and elephants can run free without fences and barriers. In addition to the large mammals, there is also impressive vegetation and birdlife. The photos on display here were taken in the Maasai National Reserve, Amboseli National Park, Tsavo West National Park, Nairobi and Mombasa.
